Top Ten Christmas Movies That Aren’t Christmas Movies

Top 10 Christmas Movies that aren't Christmas Movies

Here is a list of our top ten Christmas movies that aren’t Christmas movies. All of these are feature films that take place during Christmas and the holidays play a main part in the movie.

#1 – Die Hard (1988) + Die Hard 2 (1990)
Both of these movies take place  during Christmas. Die Hard takes place in Los Angeles where John Mclane (Bruce Willis) has to fight a group of terrorists to save his wife and her coworkers . Die Hard 2 takes place in Washington D.C.  John Mclane battles a group of rouge military officials after they take control of Dulles International.

#2 – Edward Scissorhands (1990)
In a castle high on top of a hill lives an inventor’s greatest creation – Edward. He died before he could finish Edward’s hands; instead, Edward is left with metal scissors for hands. Since then, Edward has lived alone, until a kind Avon lady discovers Edward and welcomes him into her home. At first, everyone welcomes Edward into the community, but then everything turns upside down.

#3 – Gremlins (1984)
Billy Peltzer Breaks one of the rules concering his new pet Gizmo which turns them into little monster that  end up destroying the town until Billy with the help his girlfriend and Gizmo can stop them before wrecking the holiday season.

#4 – Just Friends (2005)
While visiting his hometown during Christmas, Chris (Ryan Reynolds)  runs into a girl he had a crush on years after she broke his heart  and tries to win her all over again.

#5 – Better off Dead (1985)
Lane Meyer (John Cusack) has to deal with his girlfriend dumping him among family crises, homicidal paper boy who wants 2 dollars, and challenges  a rival skier who stole his girlfriend to a race down a mountain.  This movie is one of my favorites.

#6 – Lethal Weapon (1987)
Martin Riggs is a suicidal cop who partnered with Roger Murtaugh a cop who is nearing retirement. Together they end up busting a major drug – smuggling operation.As they become more successful their friendship grows.

#7 – Family Stone (2005)

An uptight businesswoman accompanies her boyfriend to his very outgoing family’s annual Christmas bash and finds that she’s a fish out of water in the craziness of there way of life.

#8 – Enemy of the State (1998)

A lawyer(Will Smith) becomes a target by a corrupt politician and his NSA goons. While Christmas shopping someone plants key evidence to a serious politically motivated crime. With the help Edward Lyle (Gene Hackman) their able to stay ahead of the game and take down the corrupt politician.

#9 – Reindeer Games (2000)

After assuming his dead cellmate’s identity to get with his girlfriend. Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck)an ex-con finds himself forced to be a participant in a casino heist dress as Santa Clause by his girlfriend (Charlize Theron) criminal brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise).

#10 – P2 (2007)

A businesswoman (Rachel Nichols) is pursued by a psychopath ( Wes Bentley) after being locked in a parking garage on Christmas Eve. The businesswomen is forced to physical and psychological games to survive.

    I had to read this post just to see if Die Hard was on there. My husband and I are borderline geeks, and we definitely watched Die Hard 1 and 2 this holiday season. We were watching Die Harder while wrapping presents on the 23rd! Great post, thanks for sharing.
